Position Summary

The Director of Events & Entertainment will lead the planning, execution, and oversight of all event-related activities and entertainment experiences for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Dallas. This includes fan festivals, concerts, cultural showcases, community outreach programs, and pre-event entertainment. The role requires an experienced event leader with a strong background in event management, entertainment production, and large-scale project execution.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in producing high-profile events particularly within sports, entertainment, or global cultural celebrations.

Key Responsibilities

Event Planning & Coordination

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy for all World Cup-related events, including fan festivals, watch parties, and community activations.
  • Collaborate with FIFA, sponsors, city officials, and local organizations to create engaging event programs that appeal to both local and international audiences.
  • Oversee event logistics, timelines, and execution plans, ensuring all activities run seamlessly.
  • Plan and execute fan engagement activities, such as interactive fan zones, live performances, and cultural exhibitions.

Entertainment Programming

  • Curate, book, and manage all entertainment offerings, including musical performances, celebrity appearances, and public celebrations.

  • Ensure entertainment programming reflects both global World Cup traditions and the local cultural vibrancy of Dallas and North Texas.

Stakeholder & Partnership Management

  • Build and maintain relationships with sponsors, external vendors, and community organizations to ensure event success.
  • Oversee the execution of sponsor activations, ensuring alignment with marketing and branding objectives.
  • Partner with internal departments (marketing, sponsorship, and operations) to align event strategies and logistics.

Event Operations & Logistics

  • Manage all operational aspects of events, including venue selection, technical production, staffing, security, and logistics.
  • Coordinate transportation, catering, audiovisual requirements, and other key logistical components for event execution.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve on-site event challenges to ensure smooth and safe experiences for all attendees.

Budgeting & Financial Management

  • Develop and manage event budgets, ensuring cost efficiency and alignment with financial goals.
  • Negotiate contracts with talent, venues, vendors, and production teams to optimize costs.
  • Track and report on event expenses, ensuring financial transparency.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Foster a collaborative and high-performance environment, encouraging creativity and innovation.
  • Lead, train, and oversee event production teams, volunteers, and support staff.

Fan Experience & Engagement

  • Design and implement fan engagement strategies that enhance the World Cup experience for attendees.
  • Work with marketing and digital teams to promote events through multiple platforms.

Qualifications

Experience

  • 7+ years of experience in event management, entertainment production, or large- scale project execution.
  • 3+ years of leadership experience in high-profile events, preferably in sports, entertainment, or international cultural festivals.
  • Demonstrated success in producing large-scale public events on time, within budget, and at high standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Digital Media, Sports Management, or a related field preferred.
Other Requirements
  • Flexible availability, including evenings and weekends, especially during key World Cup events.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Passion for soccer and global sporting events, with a particular enthusiasm for the FIFA World Cup.
Contract Terms
  • Independent Contractor Status: This is a contract position, not an employee role.
  • Compensation: The contractor will submit a monthly invoice for payment of services.
  • No Benefits: This role does not include health insurance, paid time off, or other employee benefits.
  • Tax Responsibility: The contractor is responsible for all applicable taxes on compensation received.
