LEGACY
HARNESSING THE FIFA wORLD CUP AS A CATALYST FOR LASTING POSITIVE CHANGE IN NORTH TEXAS
PLACES
Safe, sustainable spaces for soccer.
Places provide critical infrastructure, potentially to include mini-pitches, small (community focused) fields or even a larger complex. Critical bases support teams, leagues, camps, clinics, tournaments, and free play.
PROGRAMS
Equity and accessibility are critical.
Programs or events that expand participation across recreational and higher level soccer, especially in underserved areas, closing the pay-to-play gap. A sharp focus on women’s (girls) participation. Programs beyond soccer that improve health and wellness.
PEOPLE
Healthier, more connected areas.
Connecting and improving communities as a World Cup legacy, through programs that expand our reach (and therefore the World Cup legacy reach) beyond soccer and into more diverse audiences.
legacy pillars
Our places and programs should connect with as many pillars as possible
- Building soccer and community in North Texas through spaces and infrastructure for soccer, such as fields and mini-pitches as well as building out of supporting elements for programs and play.
- Growing soccer and community in North Texas through participation across recreational programs, growth in community involvement and activation, growth in women’s (girls) participation, and growth and development in the way we think about soccer in our country and in the North Texas region.
- Accessibility & Sustainability in North Texas soccer with a focus on underserved communities, and more accessibility to high performance programs and supplemental programs all with a view to programs that last keeping sustainability in mind.
- Leadership & Development in North Texas soccer through wellness programs, recreational programs, and training programs for coaching and refereeing.
- Collaboration that connects soccer and communities in North Texas in facilities, programs, parks, cities and communities, as through-lines into our other Legacy Program pillars and goals.
