DALLAS (March 27, 2026) — The North Texas FWC Organizing Committee, in collaboration with the City of Arlington, hosted a community tree planting event at Dr. Robert Cluck Linear Park, where city leaders, partners, volunteers and local residents planted 18 trees as part of a regional sustainability initiative ahead of FIFA World Cup 2026™.
The event brought together more than 35 volunteers, community members, project partners and Official World Cup 2026™ Dallas Host City Supporters in a shared commitment to advance green space and support long-term environmental improvements for the Arlington community, aligning with the North Texas FWC Organizing Committee’s broader sustainability efforts and the City of Arlington’s 150th anniversary.
“Today is the latest example of what’s possible when residents, volunteers, city staff, and our partners come together around a shared vision,” said Gary Packan, director of the Arlington Parks, Recreation & Culture Department. “The eighteen trees planted today will provide shade, beauty, and habitat for decades to come. As we prepare to welcome the world for the FIFA World Cup 2026, we’re growing our tree canopy across the entire city – from the heart of our Entertainment District to the parks where Arlington families play every day. Our goal of an average of one hundred and fifty trees planted per month in honor of Arlington’s 150th anniversary is building a living legacy that will benefit every corner of this city for generations.”
As the region prepares to welcome the world for the FIFA World Cup 2026™, the North Texas FWC Organizing Committee has a unique opportunity to showcase not only a passion for soccer, but a commitment to a greener, healthier and more resilient region.

The Arlington tree planting represents one of several sustainability initiatives led by the North Texas FWC Organizing Committee in collaboration with its Official World Cup 2026™ Dallas Host City Supporters – UT Southwestern Medical Center, Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages, Choctaw Casinos and North Texas Sports Foundation – across the region, focused on mitigating the urban heat island effect, improving air quality and creating healthier public spaces for future generations.
